Warren P. “Wayne” Dufrene, 95, a native of Gheens, LA and resident of Cut Off, LA passed away peacefully on July 4, 2018.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, July 7th at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off, LA, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off, LA at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Warren is survived by his daughter, Karen D. Griffin Sammons; son, Wayne P. Dufrene (Kim); granddaughter, Grace Griffin Hicks (Brian); grandson Brooks Dufrene; grandson Ryan Dufrene (Katie); great grandchildren, Cora and Blair Hicks; and brother, Arthur Dufrene.
Mr. Dufrene was preceded in death by his wife Enola Doucet; parents Diet and Edna B. Dufrene; brothers, Gilbert, Herman, Loney, and Norah Dufrene; and sister Dorothy D. Cheramie.
Mr. Dufrene was a WWII Veteran, having served in the 97th Field Artillery (Pacific) and the 75th Infantry Division (Europe). He was a dedicated member of the American Legion Delvin Adams Post 315 and VFW Post 8583. Warren was also a member and officer of the Louisiana Oyster Festival, was the 1980 Oyster Festival King, and was an active member of the American Legion Seafood Festival.
Mr. Dufrene was in the inland marine transportation industry, owning and operating the Warren P. Dufrene Boat Co., NOLA Marine Towing, Inc and DD&S Marine Towing, Inc. Warren loved fishing, shrimping, gardening, and being outdoors.
The family would like to thank The Trace Senior Community of Covington, LA and Passages Hospice for their wonderful care provided in his final days.
