Vivian Marceline Dufrene, 98, a native and resident of Raceland, born on Christmas Day 1914 and passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013.
Visitation will be held at St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her niece and care-giver, Sandra P. Katz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Grabert Dufrene and Allen J. Dufrene, sisters, Lillian D. Pennington and Corinne Dufrene; brothers, Will Dufrene, Joseph Dufrene and Allen Dufrene.
She was an educator in the Lafourche Parish Schools and St. Mary's Nativity School for 47 years.
She was very active in her catholic faith and was a charter member of The Catholic Daughters of America, she belonged to the St. Mary's Alter Society. She was a Lector and Eucharist Minster.
In recognition of her services to the church, the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux honored her with the Bishops Medal in 1987.
She was a loving person and will be missed by her family and friends.
