Robert W. McLuckie Jr, "Captain Bob", 58, a native of New York, New York and resident of Cut Off, set sail on Aug. 9, 1954 and left port on his final voyage on Sept. 1, 2012 at 9:47 a.m.
Visitation will be held on Sept. 6th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Samart Funeral Home in Cut Off. A Christian service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be celebrated at a later date at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery in Larose.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Sharon Guilbeau McLuckie; Children, Andrea Guidry and husband, Vincent, Ian McLuckie and companion, Brandi, and Aja McLuckie; Grandchildren Brittan, Zachary, Mason, Dylan, Ella, and Brooklyn; Step-Grandchildren, Brandon, Breyden, Bryce, and Kristyn; Sisters, Lori and Merri McLuckie; Nieces, Bonnie and Tina; and Mother-in-Law, Carrie Guilbeau. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Bandit.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sr. and Dolores McLuckie; Sister, Donna Parker; Grandson, Brayden Breaux; Father in Law, Earl Guilbeau.
Bob became a boat captain at the age of 18. He was a dedicated and life-long employee of MontCo Offshore for 38 years. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and family. He was the anchor for his family. He treasured time spent and caring for them. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, music, and reading. He loved sitting out on his front porch and peacefully watching for wildlife and the beauty of nature around him.
Bob fought cancer with bravery, humility, strength, and grace, never complaining and always showing gratitude to all who helped him on his journey.
Bob will always be remembered for his strength, courage, protective love for his family, giving heart, and the extraordinary example he was to all who knew him.
