Rene' Paul Hernandez "The Gentle Giant", 62, a native and lifelong resident of Raceland, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018.
Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday, May 21, at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church, 333 Twin Oaks Drive in Raceland. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mona Talbot Hernandez; son, Jordan P. Hernandez and wife, Kristen C. Hernandez and son, Joshua Philip Hernandez; daughter, Addie Hernandez Schuldt and husband, Brenan Schuldt and daughter, Kylee Schuldt and son, Abel Schuldt; mother, Nellie Foret Hernandez; brother, Roy Hernandez Jr. and wife, Roxanne Melancon Hernandez; and sisters, Emily Jeanne Hernandez Guidry and husband, Ricky Guidry, JoAnn Hernandez Danos and husband, Sidney Danos, and Connie Hernandez Uzee and husband Robbie Uzee.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Hernandez Sr.; and son, Joshua Paul Hernandez.
Rene' knew no strangers and would help anyone that he could. He loved to make people laugh and he was good at it. He was one of the hardest workers and never wanted to let anyone down. He loved his family with all his heart and was crazy about his grandkids. He will be greatly missed by many and we will forever love him "to the moon".
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Children's Hospital in New Orleans in honor of his beloved son, Joshua Paul.
