Philocles “Philo” Nacio Sr, 82, a native of Cut Off and resident of Raceland, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024.
Visitation will be held at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home, in Raceland, on Friday, September 6th from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will continue on Saturday, September 7th at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church, from 9:00 am until service time. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 noon with a burial to be held at a later date.
He is survived by his children, Phyllis Nacio, Phil Nacio Jr, Pamela Pitre (Rodney), and Lisa Hymel (Joey); grandchildren, Christina Nacio, Samantha Nacio, Malcolm Guidroz III, Cody Pitre, Heather Guidroz, Hunter Hymel, Blake Nacio, Autumn Hymel and Remington Hymel; great-grandchildren, Clair Viator, Dylan Dupre, Layla Dupre, Marley Potter, Kaylee Dupre and Owen Kawash; sister, Joan Nacio Deshazo and his longtime companion, Mary Jacobs.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Simon Nacio; parents, Batiste Nacio and Feda Verdin Nacio; son, Leon Nacio; brothers, Jean, Anthony, and Norman Nacio; sisters, Marie Boudreaux, Antoinette Carnes, Lenore Atchley, and Amy Billiot.
Philo enjoyed trawling, fishing, dancing and gardening. Love spending time with his family and watching wrestling. He was always willing to help a family member build or repair their homes.
