Morris Hunter, Sr. 80, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Galliano passed away on Thursday
November 28, 2013.

Visitation will be held at Christian Family Center on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until funeral time. Military honors will be observed by the United Veterans League at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow in Barrios Cemetery.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Melvina Ledet Hunter; sons, Morris "T-Moe" Hunter, Jr. and wife Pamela, Wayne Hunter and wife Suzette, Todd Hunter, Sr. and wife Sandy; daughters, Ramona Hunter Soper and husband Tom, Bridget Hunter, Wanda Hunter Grabert and husband Wayne; brother, Stanley Hunter, Sr.; 24 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Enes, Sr. and Aline Autin Hunter; brother, Enes Hunter, Jr.; sister, Earline Hunter Bouffaine.

Morris Hunter, Sr. honored his country by serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He began working for Grand Isle Shipyard in 1965 and retired in 2012 after 47 years. He was the founder of Christian Family Center which had its inception through French Bible Studies, which were being held in family homes until its present establishment. He taught his six children to read and live God's Word mainly by example. He was a true man of God who shared his faith with everyone he met. He is loved and will be missed by all, especially his canine companion, "Jean Claude" and his cat, "Moustache."
