Mark "Butch" Kite Fabre passed away at the age of 74 on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, in Lafayette, LA, after a brief battle with cancer. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Luling, LA, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and a funeral mass immediately following at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at a later date at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Kaplan, LA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Hanks Fabre, his father, Leon Albert Fabre, his mother, Cecelia Rose Kite Fabre, and his brothers, Leon and David Fabre. He is survived by his six children, Mark Fabre, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Jakarta, Indonesia, David Fabre and his wife Josette of Slidell, LA, Maria Manuel and her husband Lawrence Troy of Lafayette, LA, Amy Adams and her husband Cory of Raceland, LA, Lony Fabre and his wife Bridget of Lafayette, LA, and Ellen Fabre and her fiancé Jacob Myrick of Luling, LA. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Bourqe, and her husband Gerald "Book," his brother, Richard Fabre, and his wife Elaine, his sister-in-law, Frances "Maddie" Fabre, and seventeen grandchildren, Kaitlyn Dismuke, Madison Dismuke, Riley Fabre, Jolie Fabre, Carlie Fabre, Zoey Fabre, Russel Fabre, Peter Fabre, Lawrence Troy Manuel, Jr., Celeste Manuel, Benjamin Adams, Emily Adams, Arwen Adams, Annalise Adams, Haydn Fabre, Brendan Fabre and Christopher Woods. He was a native of Kaplan, Louisiana, and a long-time resident of Luling, LA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He shared his passion for sports as a coach of community football, baseball and softball leagues, and as a fan, particularly of Hahnville High School sports, acting as a founding member of the Hahnville High School Booster Club. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and a long-time parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Luling, LA. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and loyal friend to many. Known as "Poppa" to his grandchildren and "Butch" to his family and many friends, he will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Raceland, LA is handling the arrangements.
