Larry Joseph Lafont, 84, native of Grand Isle, LA and resident of Lockport, LA passed away peacefully in his home amongst family on February 15, 2025.
He is survived by sons Lyle Lafont (Tracy), and Larry Lafont (Rhonda); daughters Venisa Lafont, Michelle Santiny, Dana Besson, Misty Cheramie (Kelly), and Jena Lafont; brothers Jay Lafont, Claude Lafont, and Victor Lafont; sisters Darleen Brewer (Lawrence), Kathy Hebert (Dallas), and Connie Tillery; 22 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Lafont; parents Eustache (E.J.) Lafont and Pearl Santiny Lafont; daughters Danette Callahan, and Peggy Chighizola; sisters Vanessa Lafont, and Victoria Lafont.
Larry was a devoted and loving Husband to his wife Linda of 42 years. He enjoyed meeting every Saturday at the family home on Grand Isle. He was a loving father and paw-paw, may he always be remembered for his loving devotion, kindness and his contagious laughter. Larry was a graduate of Grand Isle High School, and he was proud to serve his country as a United States Army Veteran. Larry was an employee of Grand Isle Shipyard for the past 64 years. People who knew him have fond memories of his funny stories, spending time drinking coffee and making sure the flag was well maintained.
Visitation will be at Community Church 129 Cedar Street, Grand Isle, Louisiana 70358 on Monday February 24, 2025 from 10:00am until service time. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon. Burial will take place at Our Lady of the Isle Cemetery.
