Laddie Anthony Matherne, a native of Black Prince Island and a resident of Raceland passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Carol, father of Angie Ledet (John) and Stacy Collongues (Al). Grandchildren Zachary Breaux (Ajah), Hayden Landry and Logan Breaux, great granddaughter Noelle Breaux. He is preceded in death by his parents Mary Dufrene Matherne and Joseph Matherne and his siblings, Warren, Lawrence, Andrew, Thomas, Thelma, Eunice, Jeanne Badeaux, Razie Malbrough and Margaret Savitts.
He graduated from the University of Lafayette with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and retired from McDermott after a long and successful career. While employed with McDermott has was fortunate to travel the world and visit places such as London, Dubai, Amsterdam, Holland and Japan. He was also a proud member of the National Guard. He enjoyed fishing, drawing, reading, playing his guitar and harmonica and spending time with his family.
A memorial service will be held at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Raceland on Saturday, January 27, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in St. Hilary of Poitiers Cemetery.
