Karl Floyd Leonard, 93, a native of Cut Off and resident of Vivian, La., passed away on
Saturday, October 3, 2020.
As per Karl’s wishes, a private burial will take place and he will be interred at Cheramie
Cemetery.
Karl is survived by his daughters, Mitzi Leonard Cody and Karla Leonard, his
grandchildren, Raven Leonard, Rael Leonard Pitre, Taren Leonard Parks, and
Johnathon Leonard, his special stepnephew and stepniece, Ralph “Rocky” and Debra
Loupe Dunn, his stepson, Carl Chauvin, his dog, Baby, and numerous nieces, nephews,
and friends.
Karl is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Mary Ledet Leonard, his son, Brian Leonard,
his grandson, Jeff Estay, his parents, Theophile Henry Leonard and Edna Ford
Leonard, his sisters, Rosalie Leonard Lancaster and Pearl Leonard Bollinger Sturbois,
and his brothers, Earl A. Leonard Sr. and Theodore C. Leonard.
Karl, who loved Rose Mary unconditionally, enjoyed dancing, traveling, meeting people,
taking care of his dog, Baby, watching football, fishing and tennis.
Karl was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and Navy. Once his obligation to
the Army was completed, he enlisted in the Navy.
He was a retired Chevron dispatcher and, after retirement, a Walmart greeter, for which
his genuine warmth made him a natural.
Karl was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden
Meadow.
He was an honorable, humble, and decent man.
