James “Jimmie Mac” Edward McWhorter, 73, a native of Lockport and resident of Larose passed away on Sunday, July 18th, 2021.
A visitation will be held at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off on Thursday, July 22nd, 2021 from 9:00 am until 11:30 am. Military Honors will be held in the funeral parlor at 10:30 am with procession at 11:30am to his 12 noon Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Larose with burial following in the Church Cemetery.
Mr. James is survived by his wife of 41 years; Carol Sue Anselmi McWhorter, children; Shannon McWhorter Jakabosky (Troy), and Christopher James McWhorter, grandchildren; Laken Jakabosky, Carly Jakabosky, and one on the way, brothers; Mike, Tom, Chuck, and Don McWhorter, and sister; Susie McWhorter Matherne.
Mr. McWhorter was preceded in death by his parents; James Garvis McWhorter and Ruth Levert McWhorter, brother; Russell McWhorter, and sister; Mary Ann McWhorter.
He was an Army Veteran who served as a combat medic in the Vietnam War and a contract painter locally for over 50 years with many local jobs. He enjoyed fishing, listening to old country and rock and roll music, and in his younger days enjoyed fishing, hunting, and just being in the outdoors. He was also known to his friends and family as “Pabon” and “Jimson”
