Irvin Joseph "White" Cheramie, 88, a native and resident of Golden Meadow passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018.
Visitation will be held at Oak Ridge Community Park Pavilion, in Golden Meadow, Monday, March 26th from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time. A Memorial service will be held in the park at 11:00 a.m.
White is survived by his wife of 41 years, Elaine Gisclair Cheramie; daughter, Cherafia Cheramie and companion Blake Cornwell; half-brother, Hubert Cheramie; grandchildren, Cassidy Dufrene, Tytus Dufrene, Devony Dufrene and Dessa Cheramie; great-grandchild, Julia Dufrene.
White was preceded in death by his parents, Hick, Sr. and Cherafia Gisclair Cheramie; son, Ray Michael Cheramie; brothers, Hick, Jr., Edison, Mack and Victor Cheramie; half-brothers, Kirby and Odeno Cheramie; sister, Earline Cheramie Borne.
White served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Golden Meadow V.F.W.
White loved dancing, music, socials, driving to and spending time on the beach at Grand Isle. He loved spending time with his daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchild, spending time with his friends, his power chair and his pets.
