Glenn Broussard

d. December 27, 2013

Glenn Louis Broussard, a native of Galliano, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until funeral time Thursday at Christian Fellowship Church in Larose. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Many are left to miss him desperately, his wife, Gail Broussard; mother, Mary Rose Broussard; daughters, Sarah Weaver, Faith Lefort and Naomi Broussard; sons, Matthew and Nathaniel Broussard; grandchildren, Rachel, Madeline, Sophia, and Elijah Weaver; son-in-law, Nicholas Weaver; sisters, Loena Olds and Maureen Collins; brothers, Sturgeon and Murphy Broussard; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Broussard; and sister, Geraldine Dias.

Glenn was born in 1944 to Louis Broussard and Mary Rose Gisclair Broussard. He was their third child of six and the first son. His dad was serving in World War II when he was born, and sent letters home saying to "give my boy a kiss". Glenn graduated from South Lafourche High School where he played football, baseball and basketball. He attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana on a football scholarship.

Glenn surrendered his life to the Lord in 1976, and served Him for the rest of his days. His greatest desire was to please God in everything he did.
He met the love of his life, Gail Lefort, shortly after giving himself to God, and they married April 30, 1977.

Glenn and Gail were very happy together. They had three daughters and two sons and raised them to love God as well. They lived in Larose for most of their married life, moving to Callao, Mo., in 2010, when Glenn retired. They bought a house built in the 1800's on some acreage and Glenn was finally able to garden like he always wanted to do. There were a few animals and a pond on his new land as well. He loved the peacefulness of his new home. They rapidly got involved in churches there, often attending five services a week. Glenn loved the freedom of retirement and spent many hours a day studying his Bible in a chair by his pond, or while sitting at his kitchen table with his cup of coffee.

Glenn was a humble, gentle and good man. He was always trustworthy and his word meant something. He was a wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather. His three granddaughters and one grandson were a great joy to his life. He loved playing and talking with them, tucking them into bed and praying with them at night.

Glenn enjoyed supporting missionaries and often raised money with Gail to do so. He loved to give sacrificially to missions work. It was important to him that all should hear the Good News that he was blessed to hear. He attended missions conventions every year, where he loved to hear the reports of people coming to know the Lord.

The family would like to thank Pastor Harold Eiland, Pastor Scott Cheramie and everyone who sent words of encouragement during this time.
"We will miss him every day and look forward to our reunion in Heaven."
