George Joseph Foret, Jr., 65, a native of Lockport and resident of Houma was born on September 28, 1947 and passed away peacefully with his wife and son by his side on December 9, 2012.
Visitation will be held on Saturday at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time. Military Honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. by the United Veterans League. A Mass of Christian Burial will be observed at 11:00 with burial in St. Hilary of Poitiers Resurrection Mausoleum.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Eloise Boudoin Foret; son Jed Anthony Foret; mother, Gladys Uzee Foret; sisters, Jo Ann Foret Smith and companion Chuck, Carolyn Foret Detillier and husband Bobby, Margaret Foret Roussel and husband Gene; brother, Gary Foret and wife Bobbie; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Joseph Foret, Sr.; grandparents, Norbert Foret, Sr., Elodie Toups Foret, Camille Uzee, Dora Grabert Uzee.
He was a catholic and parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cathedral. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Knights of Columbus Third Degree.
He retired from Texaco and worked as a Petroleum Technology Instructor at LA Technical College River Regions Campus, Fletcher Community College and Nunez Community College.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, sports, gardening and trips to Florida. He loved spending time and being with his loving family and friends. He will be deeply missed by many. He was a loving husband and father.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Larned and the Ochsner Staff, Dr. Millikan and Dr. Tannier at M.D. Anderson, St. Joseph Hospice, Home Health Care and the AIM program for the wonderful care and support they provided to George during the last months of his life. We are truly grateful.
