Elrita "Liz" Sampey

June 20, 1930 — July 3, 2018

Elrita G. “Liz” Sampey, 88, a native of Mathews and resident of Raceland passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018.
Visitation will be held at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church on Friday, July 6th from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
Liz is survived by her daughter, Brenda Sampey Hunter; granddaughters, Kimberly Hunter and Tiffany Hunter; great-grandchildren, Spencer Bankston, Makayla Bankston and Parker Rodrigue; brother, Ray Gautreaux; sister, Sherry Loupe (Russell).
Liz was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Sampey; parents, Lawrence and Ruby Gautreaux; in-laws, Norris and Maude Sampey; sisters, Audrey Ford and Flo Bourgeois.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Broadway Elder Living and Rehab Center for all the love and comfort that was given to Granny.
Liz “Granny” was the sweetest and most loving woman a person could meet. She will always be in our heart. She especially loved her Bubba, Sissy and Peanut.
