Elma Theresa Dufrene Adams, 91 years old, transitioned to be with her Lord, peacefully, with her children at her side on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 7:30 pm.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, in Larose, on Friday, August 9th from 11 am until service time. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 pm with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Elma is survived by two daughters, Louella Adams and Laura Willibey (Eric); two sons, John Adams, Jr., Chris Adams (Star); 3 Godchildren, Dianne Loupe (Daniel), Jimmy Matherne (Ann) and Rose Ann Guidry; sister, Mary Matherne (Wesley) and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Adams Sr.; infant son, Adams; baby grandchild Willibey; parents, Whitney and Emily D. Dufrene; in-laws, Alcide and Elmire Adams.
She was native of Cloverly Farms, a long-time resident of Cut Off, and recently Baton Rouge.
Affectionately known as El MaMa “the mother” by her son-in-law, she was a joker and could hold her own. She never met a stranger resulting in numerous friends “for life” as she journeyed through this world. Her warm ways drew people to her-her strong Catholic beliefs shined in her. She adored her Blessed Mother and loved her namesake (St. Theresa) and often had prayer request granted. She had a strong intuition and often “knew things” before they happened. Elma will be greatly missed and will live on in her children’s hearts as well as her family and friends. Rest in peace mom-we love you.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
