Dudley J. Guidry fittingly passed away on August 5, 2021 – National Oyster Day – surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with cancer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, August 12th, 2021 from 1:00 pm until service time. Military Honors will be held at 2:00 pm with Funeral Mass at 3:00 pm with procession following to his burial in Cheramie Cemetery.
Dudley is survived by his devoted daughter, Krisandra Guidry Toups and her husband Kelly; his granddaughter Casey Ann Toups and her fiance’ Emily Simon; his grandson Cameron Michael Toups; and one sister, Mrs. Annette Triche. Dudley was born on August 12, 1932 in Cut Off. He is preceded in death by his wife, Monita Barrios Guidry, the love of his live; his parents Lillie and O’Neil Guidry; two brothers, Roy and O.J. Guidry.
Dudley was a devout Catholic with a special devotion to St. Joseph and the Virgin Mary. Upon his return from the army, Dudley owned and operated Guidry Seafood Company for 50 years before retiring to spend time with his wife and grandchildren. Guidry Seafood was a name synonymous with oysters, known around the Gulf and Atlantic coasts. Dudley also served on the board of directors as one of the founding members of Peoples Federal Savings and Loan, as well as the South Lafourche advisory board of Citizens Bank and Trust.
