Christina Renee' Cockerham Hebert, 24, native of Houma and resident of Thibodaux, entered the arms of Jesus on Saturday the 8th of April, 2017, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
Christina was a devoted wife, mother and step-mother. She was loved dearly by her family especially her baby sister. Due to her nurturing nature she was loved by all children she met, including her nieces and nephews. She was known for her positive attitude and her strong will to live life to its fullest. Christina always treated everyone with the deepest respect and found her calling in being a dietary technician at Chabert Medical Center. She enjoyed being able to interact with the patients and attempted to bring happiness to them in their time of need. Family was of the utmost importance to Christina and her loyalty to them was second to none. She was the light of her family's life and will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Scott J. Hebert; son, Robert; step-children, Seth and Kelsey; mother, Sue Babin (Martial); father, Billy Cockerham, Jr; siblings, Moe Hanino (Laura), Billy Cockerham, III (Jenna), and Valerie Babin; grandparents, Mary-Ann Hamade, Billy Cockerham, Sr. (Shelia), and Patricia Johnson; godmother, Samantha Fanguy; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Donovan Shane Domangue; grandparents, Martial J Babin, Jr. (Hazel), Michael Hamade; cousins, James "TJ" B. Cantrelle, III and Melanie Courteaux; great aunts, Judy Weems and Betty Harris; and great-uncle, Gary Cockerham.
Visitation will be held at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Matthews on Tuesday, April 11th from 5-9 PM and again at St. Charles Barromeo Church in Thibodaux on Wednesday, April 12th from 8:30 AM until Mass time. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 AM followed by a graveside service in the cemetery behind the church.
A special thank you to the countless doctors and nurses at Cancer Treatment Centers Midwestern, MD Anderson, and Ochsner Medical Centers (New Orleans and Houma) that assisted in her treatment and care. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Holly Duet, Toni with Haydel Memorial Hospice, Anna and Chris (Ochsner Main Campus).
In lieu of flowers, Christina has requested that donations or contributions be made to St. Jude Hospital to be used for Cancer Research and Treatment.
