Bernice Collins Griffin, 88, a native of Golden Meadow and a resident of Lockport, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012.
A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, and from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Monday at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated beginning at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano. Burial will follow in the Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.
She is survived by her husband, Athanas J. Griffin; sons, Floyd Anthony Griffin, and Claude Joseph Griffin; daughters, Patsy Sandras Eymard, Sylvia Griffin Curole, Brtty Griffin Terrebonne, Darlene Griffin Walker, Charlene Griffin Bourg, and Phyllis Griffin Melancon; brother, Clifton Collins; sisters, Victoria Collins; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Florvant P. Collins and Alicia Cheramie Collins; brothers, Floyd Collins and Lipton Collins; sister, Florence Collins Gambino.
She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies Alter Society.
